 James T. Kinard, PhD is an internationally renowned mathematician, author, and creator of the theory and practice to the approach of Rigorous Mathematical Thinking.
Associate RMT instructor, Gwendolyn Gibson-Kinard, PhD is a certified cognitive educator.

 

In most classrooms Learners are presented the products (symbols, formulas, equations, procedures, etc.) of what professional mathematicians have produced over the centuries.  This is called the “product” approach to mathematics teaching.

 

Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) is the “process” approach to mathematics learning.  In this revolutionary approach, learners learn mathematics the way professional mathematicians do mathematics.  

 

The RMT approach facilitates learners to develop their own rigorous thought processes, acquire tools, strategies, and the disposition to construct mathematical concepts, processes and understandings that can be applied in real life and theoretical situations.
